We started off our project by researching which plants attract bees. We found that plants such as the Seaside daisies, Goldenrod, California fuchsia, etc. are bee-friendly and are commonly used to create a bee haven. After sending a list to the school's landscaper for approval, the school then ordered the plants. Once the plants were delivered they were planted in previously discussed areas, such as the St. Francis garden. The school provides an irrigation system for this bee haven and will continue to nurture the bee community. One thing we learned from Mr. Aiello (the landscaper), is that the school no longer exterminates bees but transfers them to farms. We created a PSA to allow people to become more aware of the declining number of bees and published it on the school website.
